Lt Gen Loren Reno (USAF Ret.) is a veteran who served in the US Air Force on active duty from 1973 to 2012. Following commissioning, navigator training, and checking out in the C-130E aircraft, he arrived at Clark AB, Philippines, as US forces were evacuating refugees from Saigon, then-South Vietnam. He flew on four refugee evacuation missions before Saigon fell.
His later assignments, all in the US, saw him in operations, training, headquarters, aircraft maintenance, and logistics. He commanded twice at the squadron level, once at the group level, once at the Defense Fuel Supply Center, and once at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. He served twice in joint assignments and three times at the Pentagon. His duties and deployments have taken him to 43 countries including multiple trips into Iraq and Afghanistan from 2002-2012.
Upon retiring from the US Air Force, Gen Reno served as the inaugural dean of the Cedarville University school of business, then as the University's vice president of academics, and now as the senior advisor to its president. He teaches leadership at Cedarville to students, faculty, and staff; at the Word of Life Bible Institute, Schroon Lake, NY; and in churches like ours. He is the author of 10 Leadership Maneuvers: A General's Guide to Serving and Leading. He has been married to his wife, Karen, for 46 years. They have 3 adult children, two of whom are veterans, and three young grandchildren. His relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is his highest calling.
