In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, SCC’s DISASTER RESPONSE MINISTRY will mobilize and respond when natural disasters strike, with Spring Creek volunteers willing to engage in mission, grow as a follower of Christ and bring relief and compassion to affected homeowners in the name of Jesus.

Immediate Response Ministry

An Immediate Response consists of a team mobilizing and on the road within 48 to 72 hours after a natural disaster that Samaritan's Purse has responded to. Teams will primarily be involved with immediate storm damage clean up and ministering to the needs of people.  Immediate Response opportunities will be made available to any member of Spring Creek over the age of 21. The age restriction is due to the intensity and scope of work.

Rebuild Response Ministry

A Rebuild Response consists of a team revisiting a previously devastated area during the months and years following an Immediate Response, in order to start the rebuilding of homes and lives.  Rebuild Response opportunities will be made available to any member of Spring Creek within the age restrictions set forth by Samaritan's Purse:  14-15 must be with a parent; 16-17 with a guardian.

Be a Samaritan

Luke 10: 25-37
“He had compassion” is how Jesus describes the Samaritan man when he saw someone in need.  Many people walked right on by and did not feel compassion.  It took a Samaritan to cross the road and help the man with his wounds.   His compassion did not end with the immediate need, as he returned a bit later to make sure all the wounds were healed and that recovery back to full health was in process.
“Be a Samaritan” to Spring Creek Church means that we want to be that church who will "cross the road" in order to provide an Immediate Response to people who have been wounded by a natural disaster.  We also want to be that church that will return to those previously wounded, to participate in the restoration and rebuilding of their homes and lives with a Rebuild Response.
With this new proposal, we will be asking Spring Creek Church members to prayerfully consider “Being A Samaritan” by applying to be on a Disaster Response Ministry team, as we partner with Samaritan's Purse to have compassion for those in need.
